What’s new and trending in the world of lingerie and loungewear? Recently, there have been several exciting events where we’ve spotted hot new trends the world of lingerie. Today we share some of the highlights to keep you up to date.
Each year, Curve hosts two annual trade shows that showcase leading lingerie and swimwear brands alongside PROJECT WOMENS contemporary ready-to-wear brands. The New York show took place at the end of July and the Las Vegas show took place mid-August.
Although we were unable to attend the Curve shows this year, we love seeing what hot new trends in lingerie and swimwear are coming our way. The Lingerie Journal provided excellent recaps of both Las Vegas and New York!

Hot New Trends
Did you know the hot new trend is wet-look lingerie? Wet-look lingerie is designed out of a nylon/spandex blend that is meant to look wet when worn. One of the concerns raised by many customers is how to keep the fabric looking great, even after washing.
Our friends over at The Lingerie Journal have a great post about how to care for this hot lingerie trend using Eucalan. Why not use Wrapture for an intoxicating, sexy jasmine fragrance? Check it out!
In Intimate Detail
We are thrilled to announce that our friend Cora Harrington of The Lingerie Addict has published a book! In Intimate Detail: How to Choose, Wear and Love Lingerie is a must-have compendium with 152 gorgeously-illustrated pages. In Intimate Detail covers everything from the basics of shopping for bras and underwear, to how to shop for a corset, purchase custom lingerie, discover your ideal wedding underpinnings, or buy a binder for the first time. This a resource you’ll read and re-read for years to come.
Cora is traveling now for book signings. She’ll be at the Department of Curiosities in Chicago this weekend and she has another signing coming up in Brooklyn in October. Follow Cora on Instagram to learn where she’ll be next!
We hope this keeps you up to date on the hottest happenings in lingerie! If you have any questions on how to care for your lingerie, check out some of our previous posts on how to keep your delicates looking great and smelling amazing. We also have a lingerie board on Pinterest if you’re looking for some shopping ideas!
Each August, we turn our attention to the Curve Expo shows in New York and Las Vegas. Curve is the hottest industry show to see all of the new lingerie and swimwear trends for the coming year. Unfortunately we aren’t able to attend this year’s shows, but we’re eagerly anticipating news and photos from each one. Now seems like a great time to revisit how to keep your lingerie fresh and in good condition with Eucalan.
Summer is hot and sticky and you may find yourself needing to launder your lingerie more frequently – in fact, we recommend hand washing after every couple of wears, especially during this time of year.
First, fill your sink or a basin with cool water adding one capful of Eucalan (or the contents of a single use pod) while the water is running. Put your bra in the sink and lightly agitate, ensuring that the article is totally submerged and wet. Let everything sit for about 10 minutes, then gently remove it from the water. There’s no need to rinse with Eucalan!
Gently squeeze your bra, being careful not to wring it – especially if there is an underwire or padding as this will potentially result in a misshapen bra. Have a clean, fluffy towel handy and gently roll your bra in the towel to absorb excess moisture. Then hang it up to dry; a good method is to fasten the hooks and clasps and hang the bra to dry with both straps on the hanger. Remember to dry away from direct sunlight and heat. Your shower rod is the perfect place to dry your garments.
We even have a great video showing you how easy the process is!
You may wish to machine wash your bras, although we never recommend drying them in the dryer as it will lessen the life of your elastic and result in misshapen padding every time. To machine wash, fasten the hooks and clasps and place your bra into a mesh lingerie bag. Select the delicate cycle of the washer and add a capful of Eucalan, or the contents of a single use pod. Dry your bra using the methods described above.
We recommend the same methods described above for your other undergarments as well. Underwear, slips and any lingerie, hosiery or loungewear can be washed in Eucalan (we recommend Wrapture, which is lightly scented with jasmine) and then hung up or laid flat on a drying rack to dry away from direct sunlight and heat.
We hope these tips help keep your undergarments cool and fresh in the summer heat!

While we talk about it in February, remember that you are worth new undergarments all the time, no matter the time of year! We are all guilty of occasionally hanging onto a bra too long, even though it’s discoloured and stretched out, and the straps have lost their elasticity. As women, a bra is likely the most complicated garment we wear – modern bras have a fair bit of engineering not to mention elastic, metal, plastic, and often padding. Considering the effort you put into finding a good bra that you feel comfortable and beautiful in, it’s worth taking care of it.
Choosing a Bra That Makes You Feel Beautiful
Chances are, you already have a comfortable bra or two that you love and reach for more days than most. When shopping for something new, look for bras that have the same elements that you love- is it a smooth band, a no-frills cup? Is it wide straps, or a full coverage cup? Find bras that have those key elements, and details that you might not have tried before- our example here is the Dame de Paris bra from Marlies Dekkers, a European designer who has a core line that is specifically designed to be comfortable while also being a little out of the ordinary. If you like what you see, you can find this style and others at these sites:
You might think that the straps on the top would be strange, but the bra is incredibly comfortable, and the straps are low enough that unless you are wearing a deep v-neck, most shirt necklines are well above the straps and will not show. A matching bottom is a wonderful treat for yourself – if you find a great bra that you love, go ahead and buy the matching bottoms. While not every day is a matching-bra-and-underwear sort of day, when you do it you will feel extra put together, even if no one sees it but you!
To prolong the life of your bra you should wash it regularly, after every 3 or 4 wears. The exception is if you were heavily perspiring in your bra, then it should be washed sooner, to avoid bacteria build up and sweat stains. Body lotion, sweat and even your natural body chemistry can cause the elasticity of your bra (think straps and the band) to deteriorate over time. Washing regularly helps prevent that.
Fill your sink with cool water, adding one capful of Eucalan (we recommend Wrapture for your undergarments, which is lightly scented with jasmine essential oil) while the water is running. Put your bra in the sink and lightly agitate, squeezing the fabric very gently to help ensure that the bra is totally saturated. To save time, feel free to add more than one bra (or bottoms!) to the sink and wash them in batches. Let everything soak for about 10 minutes, then agitate them again through the water and take them out. No need to rinse when you use Eucalan! Do not wring them or squeeze them too aggressively, especially if you have padding or underwire. Have a clean, thick towel ready to lightly roll the items in to absorb excess moisture. Hang away from heat and light- your shower is probably a good place for them to dry.
We have a great video right here if you want to see how it’s done:
Before washing, make sure that the bra hooks are fastened to avoid snagging any fabrics. Place in a mesh lingerie bag, and add one capful of Eucalan to the washing machine. Set washing machine to delicate cycle. Hang to dry away from heat or bright light – your shower is probably a good spot.
Important- never put your bras in the dryer! The heat will destroy the elastic very quickly, and likely cause underwires to get distorted and cause damage to the cups, if there is padding.
- When hanging up bras to dry, don’t hang up by only one should strap. Either drape them evenly over the shower rail or hang them on a clothes hanger on the shower rail. This is especially important for underwire bras, when the weight of the wet bra could cause fabric and the underwire to stretch from the weight of a wet bra.
- If you want to save time, pick one evening a week when you will batch up the washing of your bras and delicate underwear all at once.
When you take care of your undergarments, they will last longer and be a joy to wear. And they will love you back! Or at least, smile at you from the sink:

Luxe lingerie deserves the very best to preserve it for years to come. Just as you would treat yourself to a spa day, why not show your extra special pieces some TLC?
Marlies Dekkers top and bottom with Lavender Eucalan.
Eucalan brings to mind a “spa-like” atmosphere. The natural formula, free from dyes, optical brighteners, enzymes, bleach and synthetic fragrances, shows well in the natural bottle. The bottle itself is see-through, showing that we are transparent: there’s nothing to hide. Most people feel refreshed when they use Eucalan, which can be attributed to the light, natural essential oil fragrances which scent the air and your delicate garments as well as the fact that laundering with Eucalan couldn’t possibly be any easier.
Giving lingerie, swimwear and active wear a quick wash in the basin is not a laborious task. A quick dip and squeeze is all it takes (click here to view our complete care instructions over on our website). Because Eucalan is free from all the harsh stuff other cleaners have, there’s no need to rinse the product out – in fact, our lanolin-enriched formula will condition and soften your luxe and specialty fibres. Better yet, our gentle, natural formula won’t dull colours or break down the elastic. In fact, your stretchy garments need that quick bath to remove body oils, perfumes and lotions so they can go back to their original shape, which will help them to last longer.
We have four great scents, plus a natural fragrance-free option. For the ultimate spa experience, we recommend our Lavender and Jasmine scents. Click each image below to learn more on our website!
Did you know that hand washing hosiery not only cleans and refreshes, but it can actually extend the life of your item if you use Eucalan? Since there is no need to rinse out after washing, there is a decreased chance of snagging or inadvertently causing a run in your stocking or thigh high. The lanolin naturally conditions and softens fibres, and our all-natural formula is free of optical brighteners or other additives which break down elastic fibres. We recommend Lavender, Grapefruit, or our jasmine scent Wrapture to care for these delicate items, as each scent contains naturally antiseptic essential oils; for the truly scent-sensitive, we recommend Natural, which contains no added chemicals to hide the natural scent of the product.
If you have invested in high-quality hosiery or thigh highs , make sure you are caring for them properly using these simple steps to hand wash:
- Add Eucalan to basin or sink; fill with tepid water (room temperature water, not hot and not cold).
- Insert article to be washed and soak for 15 minutes (minimum).
- Squeeze article gently to incorporate water and soap through fibres.
- Pull article out of water and gently squeeze out excess water. Do not twist or ring.
- Hang hosiery to dry.
- If you need to launder in a machine, place hosiery in a mesh laundry bag or pillow case and be sure that it is separate from items with clasps or velcro (click here to find out how to use Eucalan in your washing machine).
VienneMilano makes some of our favourite thigh highs which are perfect for wearing year-round; their Spring and Bridal collections are a breath of fresh air for the changing seasons! Show below is the Elisabetta style in white, perfect for adding a touch of seduction to your wedding day (or night).
We recommend washing each thigh high in Eucalan and storing in the VienneMilano box when dry to prolong the life of your stockings. Click here to learn more on our blog archive and here on the Vienne Milano website.
Recently, The Lingerie Journal shared an in-depth article about luxury hosiery from Glamory and recommended Eucalan to keep them clean – click here if you missed it!
As many of you may already know, Eucalan has now partnered with the iconic Dutch brand Marlies Dekkers with the help of Bill Schmitt, President of DW Schmitt Global Ltd (click here to read more on the Lingerie Journal). Together, we are looking forward to sharing these two complementary products in the North American market: a quality undergarment will last longer when properly cared for, and Eucalan’s gentle, no-rinse formula is the perfect choice for the job. In the case of Marlies Dekkers, many pieces include metal or beaded embellishments which require special care – and as a general rule, luxury lingerie should always be hand washed to extend the life of the piece.
With Valentine’s Day just around the corner, we wanted to share our quick step-by-step guide to caring for luxury undergarments:
- Gently submerge item(s) in a sink filled with tepid water and Eucalan – we recommend our Jasmine, Lavender or Grapefruit scents, all of which are naturally antiseptic.
- Allow item(s) to sit for a few minutes, then gently squeeze the item and allow the water to drain from the sink.
- Lay lingerie on a clean, dry towel and press on it gently to remove as much excess water as possible.
- Lay item(s) on a fresh towel to dry, making sure that the cups are in shape and the straps are straight . If it’s not a heavy piece, it can be hung to dry after pressing out the water.
