When most people think of Eucalyptus, they conjure up the image of a koala bear enjoying its favourite snack, or perhaps recall the soothing vapours which ease sinus congestion.
Eucalyptus has an interesting history that begins in its native home, Australia, where it was used by the Aborigines to treat coughs and colds. Eucalyptus plants have been introduced to other parts of the world with warm climates such as Brazil, the Mediterranean, and parts of the United States. Because of their fast growth, Eucalyptus plants have been used to effectively control soil erosion. This plant aslo has a number of uses in many industries, making it a valuable cash crop for poorer countries. Our crafty fans will be interested to learn that eucalyptus is also used to make dyes for wool and silk!
We chose Eucalyptus essential oil for our origial scent because it is naturally antiseptic and antibacterial, making it wonderful for washing anything you'll be wearing close to your skin. Inhaling the stimulating scent of this essential oil not only gives your spirits a lift, but is helpful for those with respiratory issues as noted above.
The natural moth and flea inhibiting properties of Eucalyptus mean that there are many practical uses in addition to caring for woolen items: for example, many of our fans use this scent to wash their pets, and it is also great for washing toys, blankets and beds for your furry friends. It's also an ideal choice to use on equestrian tack!
The unisex scent of Eucalyptus is an excellent choice for the whole family that's ideal for use on both natural and synthetic fibres. When spring cleaning rolls around, don't forget to wash garments, coats and comforters in Eucalyptus Eucalan before storing them away!
